The MU Australia Parenting Education Program was launched by the Most Reverend Dr Peter Carnley, Primate of Australia, in Perth in October 2004.

Early in October, a display of MU Australia work was set up at General Synod in Fremantle WA.

The Western Australia MU State Conference was held on the weekend following the close of General Synod. All General Synod delegates and their partners were invited to the launch of the Parenting Education Program, by the Primate of Australia the Most Reverend Dr Peter Carnley, our Australian Patron. Archbishop Carnley was joined by his wife Ann and over 120 interested MU members, General Synod delegates and friends on the Saturday afternoon.

Jan Livingstone, President MU Australia, introduced those present to Kate Pearse, who with her husband Ian attended the Mary Sumner House facilitators course, in London last November, and on returning to Australia revised and put together the material for Australian conditions.

Archbishop Carnley in his address congratulated Kate & Ian and MU Australia, on the excellent material in the course. He also commented that perhaps there could be scope for a "Grandparent Education Program" as a follow on and if so he and his wife would be very interested.

Jan presented Archbishop Carnley with a farewell gift, of an MU Australia navy blue vest, which he promptly put on for all to see.

Afternoon tea was served following the launch.
