NQ are excited about a new project adopted at our Conference in Mackay late June this year -    SUNDAY SCHOOL BY POST - our NQ Treasurer has been managing this Project for a number of years for the Parish of Walkerston, near Mackay whereby she prepares weekly Sunday School Booklets and posts out to children in remote areas. These families have signified they want them and eagerly await the delivery of their material. When Trish Heywood heard this idea, she pricked her ears and so did NQ  who have now adopted this Project under Kath’s supervision.   More information can be procured from Kath Glew via nqldmuaus@bigpond.com .

The 7 Branches in Townsville have combined to offer Court House Ministry to the Family Courts, Townsville and do so on a strict Roster system weekly with volunteers from each Branch participating.

Three Executive Members travelled to Thursday Island in August to attend their first Regional Day since the disbandment of the Carpentaria Diocese some years ago.   Members flew in from outlying Branches to attend. One Member from Darnley told us that it was the first time she had travelled on her own from her home on the Island.

A great two days of fellowship, sharing, learning, understanding MU.    Our two indigenous Members on the Executive  Mrs Lala Leftwich (VP Peninsula Region), Mrs Carilyn Kennell (Prayer & Spirituality Co-ordinator) and Mrs Cliney Bon (VP from Torres St, who all speak the language of the Islanders led the full programme.  DP Nancie did the fetching, carrying and handing out whilst trying to understand the questions........!

After such a successful “sleep-over” in February of the Executive, plans are to do it again – as this gives us more time to reflect, plan, generate enthusiasm etc.  Executive Members in our Diocese travel from Mt. Isa, Thursday Island and Mackay  to Townsville to attend these meetings and sometimes after  4+ hours on the road, 4 hours of meeting, and then home again in all an exhausting day for all.

Conference for 2006 -  6/9^th August – organised by Peninsula and Northern Region with the theme  :”You are the Potter and I am the Clay” -   Janet Dickey has been invited to be our Guest at this time.  This will be a live-in at the Tropicana Lodge.
