MU members took part in hosting a group of Torres Strait Island women for a day in Melbourne. They had attended a cross cultural workshop the day before, and were performing at General Synod the day after their time with us.

The day included a tram ride, a tour of the Cathedral and the MU Shop, lunch with the Altona MU ladies, a bus tour around the sights of Melbourne, and finally afternoon tea at Bishopscourt with Joy Freier as our Hostess.

The TI women sang and danced at Altona, and also at Bishopscourt, and their harmonies and gentle movements celebrating the “Coming of the Light” to the Torres Strait was beautiful and very moving.

We thank the Melbourne Anglican Foundation for their financial grant to make this wonderful day possible.
