Welcome to the MU Australia website. I hope that as you browse through our site you will find plenty to interest you.
MU Australia is one of the oldest women's organisations in Australia and is proud of its continuous service to Christian Marriage and Family life since its beginnings in rural Tasmania nearly one hundred and twenty years ago.
Marriage and family life form the bedrock of any society. It is where relationships are formed and where children learn how to live in the world. Poor relationship development in early life frequently leads to an inability to form lasting, meaningful relationships in later life.
Through its life of prayer, worship, worldwide friendship, including support of family and community development programmes in developing countries, and friendship and outreach in our own communities, MU Australia members seek to live out their vision of Sharing Christ's love by encouraging, strengthening and supporting marriage and family life. The Rev'd Canon Libbie Crossman BTh., Grad Dip Past Couns, Cert Min, began her three year term as Provincial President of MU Australia on 1st January 2011. Prior to this she had been MU Australia Social Responsibility Coordinator for 6 years. Libbie is part time parish priest in the Parish of Freshwater in the Diocese of Brisbane and an Honorary Canon of St John's Cathedral Brisbane. She was formerly a registered nurse, executive officer of a community-based, government funded welfare agency and qualified pastoral counsellor and partner in a counselling and psychology practice. With her husband, Bill, also an Anglican priest, she has served in North Queensland, Aipo Rongo (PNG) and Brisbane Dioceses. Libbie and Bill have two adult children, both married and three grandchildren. Any spare time is taken up with walking, kayaking, reading, good conversation, cross stitch, knitting, and cooking.
